Company description:

MECS Africa – An Introduction

Over the past two decades that MECS Africa (Pty) Limited has been operating, the services we have provided have evolved into two closely related areas. The company provides project support and seconded manpower to companies across the industrial spectrum, as well as providing a comprehensive, permanent yet flexible alternative to the same wide range of organisations.

The benefits to your company of using either or both of our mainstream services include:

• A highly trained and experienced workforce. Seconded personnel very often are exposed to ‘cutting edge’ skills and technology, inevitably resulting in a high level of skills transfer to your organisation.

• A highly flexible workforce which can be easily changed to meet project, production, budgetary or skills requirements whilst still under the Client’s supervision.

• A payroll administered by experienced professionals utilising a sophisticated computerised payroll and accounting system.

• Up-to-date Labour and Tax legislation advice is applied so as to maximise (legitimately) the benefit to all parties, thus ensuring employee satisfaction, vital to the success of every company.

Project Support

Due to the diverse nature of the project and construction environment, a need has
arisen to supply skilled labour at times of peaks and extreme deadline pressures.

The worldwide skilled personnel resources of MECS Africa can be utilised for all
stages of a project, from feasibility study to design, procurement, construction and
commissioning, through to eventual operations and maintenance. This project support
can range from full project teams, to uniquely skilled and experienced individuals.

DESIGN
MECS Africa provides a full range of qualified engineering design and draughting
personnel in all disciplines. Utilising either conventional drawing board methods or
the many and varied CAD packages, the designers and draughtsmen we provide are
extremely flexible in terms of expertise, industry and geographical location. The
engineers seconded by MECS Africa are well-qualified, highly experienced mobile
and completely at home in a contract environment.

Historically, expertise in the process industry has always been at a premium.
MECS Africa believe that we have the expertise available in-house, having already
successfully built first-rate facilities worldwide for the food, dairy and brewing
industries.

CONSTRUCTION AND COMMISSIONING
In the light of our considerable experience, embracing all industries, MECS Africa
provides Construction and Commissioning personnel of the very highest caliber.
Our data base covers experienced personnel of all disciplines and all levels, from
artisans through to Project Managers.

OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
Ensuring that production, operations and maintenance targets are met on time and
within budget, it has become increasingly cost-effective for companies to employ the
services of contract personnel. MECS Africa are able to deploy highly skilled
personnel for exactly this purpose. The personnel have most often been exposed to a
broad range of equipment, systems and procedures, and therefore able to accomodate
the Clients requirements with little or no disruption to operations.

MECS Africa’s extensive, and constantly updated candidate database encompasses
virtually all technical disciplines and positions. It is a source of pride that the
database has been built up largely as the result of ‘word of mouth’ recommendations.

Artisans and Supervision

Due to an ongoing and continued demand for highly skilled and qualified artisans the need for skilled welders, boilermakers, electricians, mechanical fitters, fitters, boring mill operators and diesel mechanics in a growing industrial society, is unending.

MECS Africa has been actively involved in the supply of highly skilled artisan contract labour throughout South Africa, and Africa both On and Off Shore. Our service includes the testing of all skills, provision for medical insurance and the certifying of all safety and offshore survival certification. MECS Africa would also handle all travel and visa requirements should it be necessary.

Permanent Placements

Over the past two decades , MECS Africa has successfully provided contract technical personnel at all levels and across the industrial spectrum. As the direct result of this success, our clients frequently approach us to source personnel for permanent positions as well.

Today, MECS Africa is able to offer a comprehensive recruitment service, which assists the already busy Human Resources Department of all companies.

Our recruitment process includes the following steps:

• Detailed job description obtained from the Client.
• Initial search of the MECS Africa candidate database.
• Advertising (if necessary) (cost to Client).
