    My client is a well-established and highly recognised international law firm based in Sandton - CBD . You will be responsible for detecting and correcting errors in written documents,
    ensuring exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, measured by Key
    Performance Indicators.
    The Johannesburg Global Business Services Centre (GBSC) Document Production department offers a professional document production and proof reading service globally. Focused on quality, reliability and expertise, it is set apart by its delivery of excellence; whilst ensuring client needs are met and where possible, exceeded. It is a busy, deadline driven service environment where accuracy and client service are paramount. Reporting in to the Secretarial Services Operations Manager, the newly created dynamic and supportive team based in Johannesburg GBSC is made up of highly skilled and professional specialists in proof reading and document production. Working together to support all offices, you will be working with a wide range of people to provide a consistently high level of client satisfaction, where the work will be both challenging and rewarding.

    • Matric
    • Bachelor's degree in English or equivalent
    • 2 years or more experience in proofreading complex legal documents
    • Need to have a mastery of the written word, spelling, grammar and knowledge of style.
    • Advanced knowledge of standard proofreading practices, procedures and concept, including standard proofreading marks
    • High attention to detail: able to identify and rephrase grammatical errors to ensure an error-free text.
    • Adept at interacting with Fee Earners and document specialists to publish comprehensible writeups.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including high level knowledge of the English Language, grammar, syntax, spelling and punctuation.
    • Working knowledge of legal terminology
    • Ability to prioritise requests and manage multiple demands in a timely manner to meet set deadlines
    • Ability to follow established policies and procedures at all times
    • Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office suite and core applications
    • Proofreading and checking complex documents for grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation, consistency and typographical errors.
    • Reading two documents against each other to ensure the test is identical, marking up the difference between the two.
    • Checking the format, font style, size and text spacing specified on the original copy.
    • Checking to ensure that cross-references refer to the correct clauses, they are automated and consistency in styles used.
    • Checking documents against prior copy to ensure that all amendments have been accurately made/inserted
    • Check in respect of every defined term that that term has been used at least once in the document. Also ensure that defined terms are used correctly throughout the document.
    • Marking corrections using special proofreading marks which are standard and recognised.
    • Ensure project is completed within set time constraints.
    • Stay abreast with grammatical development as well as new terminologies in a language
