National Bargaining Council for the Hairdressing, Cosmetology,Beauty and Skincare Industry. The South African Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1995) (otherwise known as the “LRA”) makes provision for the setting up of Bargaining Councils in each of the industries or sectors in the country.
A bargaining council can only exist through the participation of representatives from the workers in the industry and from the employers – or in our case the salon owners in the Hairdressing, Beauty, Cosmetology and Skincare Industry. The workers are represented by a TRADE UNION, and the employers are represented by an EMPLOYERS ORGANISATION. When these two associations get together and establish a bargaining council, they are known as the PARTIES to the bargaining council.
The PARTIES to the National Bargaining Council for the Hairdressing, Cosmetology, Beauty and Skincare Industry are UASA (the Union)* on the one hand and EOHCB* (the employers) on the other.
The objectives of the Labour Relations Act include amongst other things the promotion of collective bargaining in a sector, the conclusion and enforcement of collective agreements, the prevention and resolution of disputes with a view to achieving peace and stability in the industry.
We welcome you to the web-page of the National Bargaining Council for the Hairdressing, Cosmetology, Beauty and Skincare Industry and we look forward to being able to be of service to you, and to a long and mutually beneficial relationship in the future
