  • Primary Purpose of the Job
    Ensure the timely collection of all outstanding debt from tenants, or other parties, due to the company.
    Key Performance Areas (KPA’s)
    • To assist in the correct allocation of all tenant payments.
    • To assist with the processing of monthly debit orders and review and increase the number of tenants that pay by debit order.
    • To process tenant queries and reconciliations.
    • To assist with the issuing of letters of demands and legal proceedings in accordance with credit control policies.
    • To manage bad debt levels and assists in provisioning for bad debt.
    • To assist in the preparation of management and operational reports.
    • To manage debt collections and arrears through regular follow-up and review.

    The above duties are the main duties required to be successful in this role, however, the employee can be requested to perform other duties and responsibilities from time to time during his/her employment with the company, based on its operational requirements. The job title does not define or restrict the employment relationship and it is required within reason that the employee avail him-/herself to undertake other work at the request of the company.

    Job Specific Requirements

    Job Knowledge:
    • Understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to billing of tenants, debt collection and legal processes (desirable)
    • Functional knowledge of labour law (desirable)
    • Functional knowledge of general accounting (desirable)
    • Functional knowledge of leasing (desirable)

    Job Related Skills:
    • Computer proficiency (essential)

    Job Experience:
    • 2 years in credit control (essential)
    • 1 year in property and/or legal industry (desirable)
    • Overseeing a large debtors book in excess of R10m (essential)
