  • Minimum Qualifications: Grade 12 / Matric Certificate and relevant Tertiary Qualification SAMTRAC Code 08 driver’s license Minimum Experience: 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment Operational Health, Safety and Environmental Management Managing Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 compliance Field Services Implementation and maintenance of the OHSAS 18001 ISO 14001 standards Computer literate (MS Office) Key Functions: Ensure compliance with relevant legislation such as Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993, Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 etc. Assist with the management and maintenance of safety, health and environment in accordance with OHSAS, ISO and Group Standards. Maintain site certification and compliance with the requirements of the OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 International Standards for various branches Regular control of documentation and record keeping Actively implement, drive and support Regional and Group initiatives i.e. Company Zero Harm, Stop for Safety, Safe Start principles etc. Facilitate incident and accident investigations, including near misses Implement and maintain a Field services programme in accordance with, and to meet customer requirements Conduct Field Service inspections and provide support to Field Service Operations on a continuous basis Monitor driving behaviours and provide feedback to relevant managers Co-ordinate and maintain Shield , Q-pulse and Resource Advisor (Electronic Management Systems) Assist in developing, coordinating and overseeing the company’s internal and external training requirements for employees and contractors, i.e. Induction, fire drills, incident prevention Conduct regular meetings with supervisors and employees and update them on SHE matters Attend departmental green area meetings Facilitate risk assessments and manage action plans Co-ordinate and assist in occupational hygiene monitoring programme and ensure that corrective actions are implemented Co-ordinate and participate in SHE committee meetings Co-ordinate and arrange medicals to ensure that the medical surveillance programme is on track including exit medicals Compile and provide SHE performance reports and maintain site and departmental specific statistics Provide guidance and mentor SHE representatives, supervisors and employees Active involvement in medium and long term department, site and company planning strategies Assist with internal, external and legal compliance audits Lead and/or participate in cross functional and intercompany internal SHE audits Conduct regular on-site assessment and provide feedback to management Manage SHE non-conformances and provide regular feedback Regular monitoring of corrective actions to ensure effective close out Administrate legal appointments and legal registers Recommend improvements, support the development of action plans and monitor for effective implementation and/or maintenance Develop, maintain and improve all SHE systems Optimize and set up programs to improve equipment effectiveness Perform any other reasonable tasks when requested Adhere to SHE and Housekeeping requirements Must be able to travel locally and internationally. Minimum Skills/Abilities: Good communication: Verbal and written/ Acts quickly and decisively in a crisis or emergency situation/ Interpret the rationale of why compliance with rules, standards, procedures etc. are important and act accordingly and provide support to the branch/ On-going awareness and promotion of Safety, Health and Environmental to improve workplace conditions. Analytical and Problem Solving: Uses knowledge of theory or of different past trends or situations to look at current situations / Plans and utilizes appropriate resources to accomplish project goals / Optimises resources to accomplish projects / programs within established schedules/ Proactive approach to managing SHE. Administration: Implements policies and procedures / Ensure team adheres to policies / Maintain SHE Management Systems.
