  • Purpose of the position This is a Senior position within the Hospitality and Catering department and requires the essential skills to manage the smooth operations of the Banqueting and events department. This position is responsible for all internal and external events within the H&C department. Preference will be given to candidates with both extensive back of house and front of house experience, particular in a banqueting and events environment. Key responsibilities Rosters for all staff within the banqueting department +-15 staff, excluding casual labour, ensuring that payroll is kept within budgets. Organising the site meetings with the clients to discuss their events. Processing the quotation and/or tax invoice for the event. Ensuring that all Purchasing Order Numbers or payments are received before the event date. Maintenance of cost of sales both food and beverages with the department. Supervision of all supervisors and management within the banqueting department. Compiling of the weekly Banqueting schedules for all units. Obtaining Quotations from suppliers for hiring, flowers and full Deco for the events. Ordering of stocks from warehouse. Ensuring that entertainment, parking and sound equipment have been booked if requested by the client. Checking the function rooms for cleanliness, set up of buffet table and deco before guest arrive. Greeting the host and circulate during the course of the function to ensure availability in the event of a problem or complaints. Responsible for all internal functions. Ensuring that the agreed budgeted targets (cost of sales are kept inline) are achieved or bettered. Responsible for submission of all cost functions breakdown to the F&B Manager. Ensuring that all quotes & final tax invoices are sent to client and Accountant timeously to avoid and bill discrepancies. Responsible for keeping the clients files up to date with all the necessary information as well as proof of payments. Ensuring that the ordering process from the warehouse is followed at all times. Minimum requirements A minimum of eight years experience within a Food and Beverages operation with skills from both back of house and front of house. Diploma in Food and Beverages management/culinary arts/Professional Cookery and administration is essential. Experience in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Restaurant POS Systems experience is essential. Drivers licenses is essential as this position involves extensive travelling between all units.
