  • Responsible for accurate, timely, complete, ethical and efficient provision of total quality patient care, as part of a team and as governed by professional conduct and VMMC programme protocols; ensuring maintenance of best clinical practice by clinical staff through training and mentoring:
    Clinical Management of Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Program clients and patients
    Human Capital Management
    Ensuring maintenance of best clinical practice by clinical staff
    Ensuring that clinical staff maintain adequate professional skills; through training and mentoring
    Administrative duties
    Liaise with customers
    Manage and Run the VMMC Clinical Service:
    •Supervise all clinical professional staff members in the patient care setting.
    •Implementation of Department of health VMMC guideline and WHO Move Model
    •Ensure that infection control policies are adhered tool
    •Caseload analysis including identifying situations in which patients are scheduled for unnecessary services and revising treatment plans to address these situations
    •Developing policies and standard operating procedures that help the organization maintain compliance with company standards, health care laws and regulations
    •Represent the organization in clinical activities with key stakeholders (Department of Health, private companies, etc.) in liaison with clinic manager and project manager
    •Conducting studies/evaluations in accordance with ethically approved protocols
    •Conducting morbidity reviews
    •Ensure facility equipment is maintained
    •Performing any other duties that will contribute to the efficient running of the VMMC clinic as may be assigned by management
    •Assessing suitability of men to undergo circumcision
    •Assessing and managing patients through all the VMMC “package of services” (e.g. management of STIs, counselling)
    •Perform medical male circumcision procedures on suitable clients, in accordance with accepted protocols/models
    •Clinical management of pre and post-operative patients
    •Prescribing medication where/as appropriate
    •Following up, monitoring and managing patients post VMMC for AE’s according to SA National and WHO VMMC guidelines and protocols
    •Reporting according to standard VMMC M&E requirements
    •Being part of a roving team that performs VMMC in other settings
    •Provision of Post Exposure Prophylaxis according to accepted guidelines
    General Administration:
    •Document all procedures done or clinical findings in patient cards
    •Timeous, correct and complete recording and reporting of adverse events where necessary.
    •Writing of referral letters to hospital
    •Contribute to timeous. accurate monthly status reports
    •Report all unsafe activities to Senior Management/Human Resources
    •Liaise with all Internal Customers and External Customers and Suppliers when necessary towards the achievement of organizational and departmental goals
    •Conduct clinic meetings with clinical staff as necessary
    •Reading VMMC (and other HIV/TB prevention, treatment and care) literature
    •Attending workshops/conferences as deemed relevant by management
    •Subscribing to professional periodicals
    •Sharing of new development on VMMC with clinical staff.
    •Ensure that professional staff are kept up to date on any developments in the field of HIV prevention, care and treatment (specifically, VMMC developments)
    •Supervision of staff through:
    Identify and address staff issues among clinical staff
    Facilitate staff training as required
    Completing of staff performance reporting on a quarterly basis
    •Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures according to prescribed procedures and legislation
    •Adhere to and maintain decision making authority as allocated to the position
    •Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
    •Adhere to all management SOPs, guidelines and confidential agreements
    •Supervision of subordinates by providing guidance and in- service training to identify and address all challenges
    •Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill

    Qualification/Professional Membership:
    •Medical Degree (Bachelor of Medical Sciences (NQF Level 7)
    •Valid registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Associate
    •Advantageous Requirements:
    Post Graduate diploma in PHC and HAST
    College Diploma/Certificate in HIV Management
    Certified VMMC Clinical training
    •Minimum of two years’ experience in treating PLWHA
    •Minimum of two years’ experience in a public sector primary health care setting
    •Minimum of two years’ experience as a Clinical Associate performing VMMC
    •Task Management
    NB: Non – South African citizens must have a valid work-permit
