    A Paarl-based business in the hospitality industry has a vacancy for an innovative chef who has a passion for digestive health, detox, immune health, gut repair and overall wellness aimed at families.

    Job Description:

    * Create “out-of-the-box” culinary ideas focused on healthy living (including variety of menu designs)
    * Operational planning, coordination and implementation of entire kitchen and preparation area/s (includes all general culinary activities as well as
    delegation of duties)
    * Quality monitoring: Providing high standard of service delivery
    * Financial management: Excellent at costing (includes estimation of food and labor costs)
    * Training: Supervise, delegate and mentor kitchen staff according to required activities and required skills
    * Maintenance: Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
    * Recruitment: Participate in recruitment of kitchen staff
    * Conflict management: Able to spot and resolve arising challenges or complaints efficiently
    * Excellent attention to detail: Give prepared plates the “final touch”
    * Perform administrative duties
    * Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
    * Excel in time management
    * Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
    * Keep up with cooking trends and best practices


    * Proven working experience as a chef/cook
    * Excellent record of kitchen management
    * Communication and leadership skills
    * Working knowledge of various computer software programmes (Semper, MS Office, MS Excel, etc.)
    * Tertiary qualification in Culinary Science or related certificate will be an added advantage
    * Code B driver’s license
    * Working knowledge and experience as a Chef/Cook
    * 3 years’ knowledge and experience in the implementation of catering services (conferences and weddings
    * Minimum 2 years’ kitchen management experience (experience in stock orders, control and waste management)
    * Has a healthy approach towards life
    * Is able to work independently
    * Is self-motivated, trustworthy, creative and innovative, a team player and mentor
    * Is highly adaptable and flexible, and willing to work long hours
    * Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
