  • This position will be required to develop a demand forecast for an 18-month rolling period, which incorporates current and accurate market information that allow the company to predict customer demand correctly and provide its supply chain with the appropriate information to plan how to meet the customer demand.
     
    Key Performance Areas

    Ensure an optimum 18 month baseline forecast is generated taking macro-economic conditions and trends into account.
    Facilitate the collaborative category demand planning process:
    Prepare regional forecast data sheets for monthly regional forecast meetings with data, analysis and insight to support the Sales team in their forecasting activities in all regions (Inland, Cape, KZN and Africa Development.)
    Review historical sales trends, research and demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models and evaluate the forecast results.
    Develop and maintain a demand forecast at multiple levels of aggregation for the defined categories to formulate a realistic plan.
    Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Finance (drive internal collaboration) to create Building Blocks at levels representative of market segments and product families that can be forecasted with levels of confidence and accuracy.
    Develop detailed forecasts by SKU, based on family level consensus forecasts, and will provide easy analysis for use in the IBP (Integrated Business Process) process.
    Coordinate cross functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
    Interface with Sales; Marketing and Finance to understand demand forecast drivers.
    Utilise collaborative and consensus approach by working cross functionally.
    Up-load the regional forecasts into SAP.
    Ensure that assumptions, risks and opportunities are managed, understood and escalated.
    Record and communicate the impact of abnormal demand. Facilitate allocation discussions and communicate decisions to the Supply and Logistics team.
    Analyse and research economic trends related to the FMCG/CHEMICAL environment as an input to forecasts.
    Analyse and improve forecast accuracy and other key planning performance metrics.
    Facilitate the monthly Category Demand Review and communicate issues into the National Demand process.
    Optimize the Demand Planning process and provide user training.
    Provide volume input for the contract process.
    Support the Demand Manager in the monthly Demand Review and Consensus Meeting.
     
    Candidate Requirements
    Skill, Knowledge and Experience Requirements
    Tertiary qualification in engineering, commerce or equivalent.
    APICS accreditation/certification preferable
    Minimum of 3-5 years�€� experience in supply chain planning/demand planning.
    Technical Skills: Business intelligence analysis; use complex computer programs to mine data sources and look for trends. SAP, BOBJ, MS Access, Excel are key tools for the role.
    Analytical Skills: A major part of the job is to determine what data trends mean. Being able to analyse the data is crucial.
    Communication Skills: Once the data is analysed, business intelligence analysts must communicate their findings to the company or their managers.
    Problem-Solving: Business intelligence analysts need to look at the data trends and recommend solutions for creating more revenue and reducing loss.
    Time Management: Business intelligence analysts delivers to a number of users, at various level in the organisation and varying deadlines. Being able to juggle it all is crucial to the job.
    Team work: Ability to play a highly proactive, participative role when working across teams, demonstrating and promoting cooperation. Ability to take an active role in resolving conflicts before they escalate.
