  • Duties & Responsibilities
    Running diagnostic tests on vehicles.
    Analyzing diagnostic test results.
    Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems.
    Checking vehicle lighting systems.
    Test driving vehicles to gauge performance.
    Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks.
    Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.
    Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist.
    Maintaining a parts inventory.
    Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.
    Service Department Proficiency
    Supervise workshop staff and procedures
    Ensure efficient and effective utilisation of workshop labour
    Ensure work is performed as per RO and current schedule of works
    Supervise and follow up on actual progress of each individual repair job
    Ensure RO job codes and relevant paperwork are completed accurately and on time
    Notify Manager of additional work needed or any delays in expected completion as soon as they become known so the customer may be contacted and notified of delay
    Monitor tasks in progress in order to maintain acceptable timeframes • Manage overtime requirements
    Check job code times, write ups and sign off all ROs
    Organise work schedules to accommodate bookings and carryover
    Assist management with developing procedures to ensure workshop efficiency
    Assist with development of procedures in conjunction with the parts manager to ensure effective parts delivery for workshop tasks
    Ensure parts are ordered in advance for service and repair bookings • Liaise with Parts department to ensure correct parts are ordered and received
    Attend and / or conduct weekly tool box and department meetings
    Sign and approve employee clock cards 2.
    Quality Control
    Oversee the inspection and diagnosis of vehicles and communicate finding to service manager or customer
    Perform trouble shooting and diagnostic procedures on vehicles and equipment
    Ensure all work is carried out to agreed quality and standards and documentation is completed on time
    Ensure final check / test drive for all vehicles are carried out prior to release
    Ensure warranties are properly followed up, monitored, and documented
    Ensure re-works are properly followed up, monitored, and documented
    Evaluate training requirement of technicians and apprentices and discuss / agree on training needs with manager/training coordinator
    Assist with on the job training of apprentices
    Ensure all training is documented in the training register
    Provide coaching and mentoring to technicians, apprentices and trade assistants
    Desired Experience & Qualification

    At least 5 years experience -commericial
