- Cape Town, City of Cape Town, Western Cape
Here at Rhino Africa, our founder and CEO David Ryan acts as the end point of contact for more than 200 staff, 2000 suppliers and 15000 clients each year. The architect and curator of Rhino Africa's guiding vision, our portfolio of luxury properties and our 5 conservation and education initiatives across the continent, David's unmatched passion and business savvy have seen Rhino Africa recognized as "Africa's Leading Luxury Safari Company" for the last 5 years in a row.
Now 13 years into Rhino Africa's journey from a one-man kitchen table start-up to the pinnacle of the African travel industry, the time has come to get David some help. To provide our intrepid leader the support he needs to keep Rhino Africa ten steps ahead of the "crash" (if we're speaking in rhino terms), we are in the process of building David his own personal project management team.
A vacancy in Rhino Africa's new executive unit exists for a Copywriter with the power to recast David's ideas and intentions in the form of the written word: blogs, newsletters and personal communications that will reach clients, staff and stakeholders alike.
As Rhino Africa's executive copywriter, you will produce handiwork that reaches diverse audiences and celebrates the beauty of Africa, binding our award-winning vision and purpose together. Across Rhino Africa's variety of luxury brands and CIs, your specific responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
*Making sure that all of David's written communication requirements are met
*Seeing David's copy concepts through to execution and craft: in short, ensuring that what he imagines is what you produce
*Developing and applying different CI copy guidelines that fall under Rhino Africa's umbrella of brands
*Giving written life to everything from webpages to presentations, proposals to blogs, emails and events
*Generating marketing collateral like client, staff and supplier newsletters
*Creating written walkthroughs that explain user experiences and project flows to different stakeholders
*Editing and proofreading David's own writing as well as content produced for Rhino Africa's executive team
*Brainstorming with Rhino Africa's management team and working in close collaboration with our Marketing and Web Development departments
We are looking for an eloquent native-level English speaker who possesses:
*At least 2-3 years of work experience (ideally in the production of travel writing and/or blogs or similar digital content)
*At least a vocational qualification in a field of language/literature/communications
*A passion for language and literature, with a flawless grasp of spelling and grammar
*Clear creative flair and a knack for inspirational writing
*The ability to distinguish and shift between tones and brands as quick as wink and as slick as a whistle. A sense of humour is also pretty important!
*A pride in receiving and using constructive criticism in the improvement of written work
*An adaptable nature and a clear sense of comfort in a dynamic, tight-knit, team-based working environment
Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals (PDIs). Please note that we can only consider applications from South African citizens.
Please note that your application must include a link to your portfolio, best writing samples, or similar examples of your work. A slot for this link is provided in our application form.
