Aligns financial and governance strategy to needs in the external market (inclusive of legislative changes).
Contributes to and is individually accountable for implementing the broader financial strategy across the company and group over a 3-5 year period.
Translates strategy into business plan
Understand the economic drivers of the business and drives decision making to ensure the best economic value for all stakeholders.
Accountable for preparation of audited annual financial statements at company, the group level in accordance with IFRS.
Accountable for preparation of management accounts and financial reports and record keeping for the company and the group through other managers and their teams.
Accountable for the capital management of to ensure that the company has the most efficient capital structure.
Oversees economic capital modelling in order to determine the most appropriate level of risk capital required.
Sets the funding strategy and plan for the Group.
Ensures that the business has sufficient and cost effective short and medium term funding lines with banks and the Group.
Manages engagements with debt advisors, arrangers and rating agents.
Managing excess liquidity in the most return efficient manner.
Designs and implements the hedging strategy of the business.
Develops and takes accountability for the business plan for both the lending and transactional banking businesses.
Accountable for all tax returns of the businesses.
Drives engagement with SARS (in consultation with Group Tax) relating to business specific tax matters.
Looks for opportunities to minimise tax liabilities and risks of the organisation.
Governance & Compliance
Ensures IAS compliance within the company and group.
Ensures best financial operating practices are in place.
Ensures tax, legislative and statutory requirements are met.
Responsible for internal and external audit liaison and external audit fee negotiations.
Sets financial policies for the business.
Monitors financial processes and performance for business unit/segment.
Participate in Risk Management processes and forums of the business.
Manages staff and aligns staff performance contracts to business plans.
Develops specialists under supervision.
Holds first line managers accountable for managerial work, including selection, performance management and talent management.
Leads teams to optimise delivery.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification
7 – 10 years relevant Financial Services experience
5 – 8 years’ senior management experience
