  • Tasks

    Assuring proper sanitation practices are followed;
    Assuring smooth operation by coordinating with all departments;
    Controlling food costs by maintaining accurate records of all food ingredients and limiting wastage;
    Creating new menus and seeing to their proper implementation;
    Dealing with other chefs, on a one to one basis, instructing and guiding them in their jobs;
    Directing supervision of day to day operation within the restaurant if needed;
    Ensuring preparation, quality control, plating and presentation standards are maintained;
    Orienting employees and providing training on job responsibilities;
    Prioritising and assigning work, and conducting performance reviews;
    Recommending and implementing procedural or production changes;
    Adhere to basic employment regulations;
    Ensuring of proper quality control from when the supplies deliver to when the food reaches the customer.
    Qualifications and requirements

    A cookery/hospitality diploma/degree or equivalent, previous work experience in a similar position advantageous;
    Extensive product knowledge;
    Ability to monitor or assess performance of yourself, other individuals, or organisation to make improvements or take corrective action;
    Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work and identify the best people for the job;
    Ability to manage one’s own time and the time of others;
    Multi-tasking.
