  • Health and safety officers needed

    MAIN PURPOSE

    Safety Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing company's employee safety at work. Their main duty is to ensure that the company is complying and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines.

    Key Performance Areas:

    Support the development of OHS policies and programs

    Planning, monitoring and reviewing the health and safety strategies, policies, plans and procedures of the organization and update according to legislation

    Inspecting the workplace and workplace equipment to ensure they meet safety regulations and legislation.

    Identifying any hazards and risks in the work environment.

    Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)

    Recording and reporting hazards, accidents, injuries and health issues within the workplace.

    Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims

    Assisting with the investigation of accidents and unsafe working conditions as well as study possible causes and recommend remedial action.

    Assisting in the awareness programmers and preparing monthly system reports.

    Prepare project specific health and safety documentation and compile safety files.

    Assist in training of all staff on emergency plans and the induction process on all sites.

    Employee orientation, development, and training.

    Conduct toolbox talks

    Prepare Risk assessments.

    Any other reasonable request in pursuit of company’s interest

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Diploma or Certificate in Safety Management or relevant field (preferred)

    SAMTRAC- Qualification is a MUST

    SACPCMP Registered as a Safety Officer

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

    2 years’ experience as a Safety Officer

    Experience in the Windfarm Industry would be advantageous.

    Good understanding of Legal Health and Safety guidelines

    Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies.

    Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices

    Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety

    Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment

    Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.

    2-years’ experience in the Transport Industry

    Diligent with great attention to detail

    Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.

    SAMTRAC Qualification (Required)
