    Lead Architecture and Innovation – hands on role – Sandton – flexible salary - JP36913-2016
    Significant Financial business seeks a very strong experienced Champion / Lead level Technologist to drive significant changes to the technology mentality of the business from within.
    The business has a “build not buy mentality”
    The business believes in technology as a large part of its competitive advantage moving forward
    In fact the business sees technology as its future
    The Role Itself:
    Significant leadership role within the business
    Champion new Tech, Architecture and Processes
    In effect, this business acknowledges that some of its parts are broken and you will play a driving hand in fixing it
    Man management – 7 to 8 Devs as a coding member of that team
    Change management – as with any organisation, there are some who will resist change, you will lubricate their buy in rather than demand obedience
    Core focus is evolution and R&D BUT your team will also play a guiding hand in production across the business (Ninja in and help guide NOT production code fire fighting)
    There is no team in place, you will build that team once on-boarded
    The person that can do this probably has:
    Significant success leading and delivering big OR complex projects
    You do still want to code – you will code in this job even if it’s just POCs for the Execs NB
    You can show achievement in your commercial, academic and personal life
    You are not an instruction taker but rather a leader in your field
    Architecturally you appreciate EA, Solution Architecture but with your core strength in Technical Architecture
    As a Dev you play with tools all the time – you are very well educated on advanced tech, across a broad spectrum
    You do have core commercial experience in one of the big OO frameworks – probably C# or Java
    You have produced large / complex / significant web based applications professionally
    You’ve looked at everything from C#, Java to Native Mobile to Block chain (not necessarily commercially)
    This is a tough role, we need a resilient person BUT you have the EQ to understand that it’s your role to fix what wrong with the corporate financial world. You see the opportunities in this job not the issues.
