  • Our Client a coal Mining company just outside of Newcastle is looking for a Mine Manager, Your Primary Duties would be to Manage the Operation and are a s follows :

    1) Ensure all Health and Safety Systems are in place.

    2) Ensure mining Production Targets are met.

    3) Ensure processing targets are met.

    4) Ensure dispatch of coal is performed properly.

    5) Ensure conditions of the product road from the mine to the siding is maintained in good order.

    6) Ensure proper relationships and communication is maintained with the Siding.

    7) Ensure all coal reconciliations are done and balances on a daily basis.

    8) Ensure good survey practices are maintained

    9) Ensure monthly planning is done properly and timeously.

    10) Ensure contractors perform according to contractual requirements

    11) Ensure proper relationship with all regulatory bodies, i.e. DMR, Water Affairs, Municipality, SAPS

    12) Ensure good relationships with Consulting specialists

    13) Ensure proper working relationships between staff exists

    14) Ensure Community relationships are established and maintained

    15) Ensure sampling procedure is followed at all times and results are communicated to Head Office within 24 hours of receipt thereof.

    Ensure compliance Mine Health and Safety Act and regulations.

    1) Carry the 3.1 MHSA legal appointment

    2) Be involved and sign off all Risk Assessments

    1) All mandatory COP's are in place, approved and signed off.

    2) All SOP's which is in line with the COP's are in place, approved and signed off.

    3) All PTO's are in place, approved and signed off as well as conducted on a regular basis.

    4) All Safety inductions and medicals are conducted in accordance with the COP.

    5) All training for the above is in place and conducted and register are kept and signed off.

    6) All tool box meetings and pre-start checklists are conducted properly.

    7) Regular Safety Committee meetings are conducted, minuted and placed on record as required by the DMR.

    8) Any incidents or accidents are reported on the appropriate incident flash report within 24 hours of occurrence.

    9) Incident and accident investigation within the timeframes as required by the COP. Full signed off accident/incident report to be circulated to head office within 24 hours after completion of investigation inclusive of an action list.

    Production :

    1) Ensure all planning is done timeously and communicated to all concerned parties

    2) Ensure production targets as per the required plan is achieved.

    3) Ensure Mining contractor performances its obligations in terms of the Contractual Agreement and required Mine Plan.

    4) Ensure that the Crushing Contractor performances its obligations in terms of the Contractual Agreement and required Mine Plan.

    5) Daily reporting on actual production against target production for mining, crushing and screening and dispatch.

    6) Daily survey is conducted and any major discrepancies are rectified immediately.

    Logistics :

    1) Siding road to be maintained at all times.

    2) First section of siding road is always watered down

    3) Ensure proper communication between mining operation and logistics operation

    4) Ensure safe operation of transport suppliers.

    5) Ensure effective and sufficient weighbridge operation.

    6) Ensure optimal cycle and loading times are maintained when loading the transporters.

    Stakeholder Liaison :

    1) Ensure our appointment Community Liaison Consultants performs according to the Service Level Agreement.

    2) Ensure stakeholder relationships are maintained

    3) Ensure Ikwezi Community Forum meetings are conducted on a regular basis and report on the outcomes of the meetings within 48 hours to Head Office.

    Meetings and Reporting

    1) Conduct daily operational meetings and minute the same.

    2) Ensure the Contractors are conducting monthly union meetings and report back on the same to the Mine Manager.

    3) Ensure monthly management meetings are conducted, minuted and reports circulated to head office by the 7th working day of the month.
