    The purpose of this role is to lead and manage all the activities of the opencast operation so as to achieve optimal and sustainable levels of production and Health Safety and Environmental efficiency.
    Minimum Qualification:
     A relevant 3 year Tertiary qualification.
     A Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency.
     A Management qualification will be advantageous.
    Minimum Experience:
     10 Year’s coal mining experience of which 5 years must be at a Production Manager Level.
     Project Management experience will be advantageous.
    Behavioural Competencies:
     Ability to show composure by managing stress levels and dealing with pressure.
     Ability to assume responsibility, be definitive and stand by own decisions.
     Ability to motivate individuals and team through empowerment, inspiration and encouragement.
    The successful candidate must be in possession of a valid certificate of fitness or be fit enough to obtain one prior to commencement in this role as this is a requirement of the Mine Health & Safety Act.
    The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to the following:
     Ensuring the implementation and compliance with Health Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and standards.
     Involvement in the formulation of and implementation of the business strategy and plan.
     Managing projects.
     Driving the Company’s transformation strategy within the operation.
     Creating a culture that is conducive to optimal business performance.
     Establishing and maintaining effective communication and engagement channels with the relevant internal and external stakeholders.
