  • Job Description
    My client is looking for a senior individual for an Operations Manager role within the Technical Operations Department. This individual need to have strong food experience and traceable references.
    To provide the technical operations support required to ensure the efficient and effective production and serving of high quality food.
     
    COMPLIANCE DOCUMENTATION AND TRAINING
    Reviews and updates the recipe and SOP database in the technical operations library and effects these changes in the online operations manual on a continuous basis and communicates changes to all relevant stakeholders
    Writes operating briefs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP�€�s)
    Continuously improves the content of the SOP�€�s
    Provides SOP training to Learning and Development in order for them to provide training throughout the system
    OPERATIONAL SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES
    Provides operational guidance to the development and implementation of the department�€�s strategies, policies and practices
    Improves the operational systems and processes in order to achieve improved management reporting and information flow
    Investigates and trials the viability of new/enhanced product and packaging initiatives
    Develops and implements initiatives geared toward operational excellence, including long-term planning and project management
    OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
    Provides support and guidance to the restaurants within Southern Africa on all matters pertaining to food products and packaging, cooking processes and equipment used for the efficient preparation and serving of food
    Provides feedback to the restaurant support functions i.e. HR, Marketing, IT, Finance, CIC, Procurement, Business Development, Restco and Technical Operations on new initiatives and improvements
    Acts to ensure that food going into and coming out of the restaurants is of the highest quality
    Evaluates and monitors the packaging quality to ensure that it is of the quality that can hold the food and deliver it to customers in top quality
    Streamlines kitchen efficiencies to ensure that food can be provided food quickly, efficiently, and best quality possible while maintaining safety quality standards
    Participates in the NPD process and the launch of new products into the system
    Provides feedback to the greater technical operations team
    PROJECT SUPPORT
    Participates in multi-disciplinary projects
    Communicates with various stakeholders throughout the duration of the project to keep them appraised of project status
    Facilitates the interaction between multiple stakeholders, to ensure that all stakeholders have a common understanding of where the project is at
    REPORTS
    Provides project reports to relevant stakeholders
    Compiles and distributes monthly project summary sheets
    Compiles and distributes trial reports as and when required
     
    Minimum Requirements
    EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
    National Diploma in Food Technology/Operations Management/Food Science/Hotel Management or equivalent NQF Level 5 qualification
    Bachelor�€�s degree in Food Technology/Operations Management/Food Science/Hotel Management or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification (Preferred)
     
    EXPERIENCE
    5 �€� 10 years restaurant management experience or 3 -5 years operations management experience in an FMCG environment
    Experience in managing and running a business
    10+ year�€�s restaurant management experience or 5+ year�€�s operations management experience in an FMCG environment (Preferred)
     
    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL
    Knowledge of restaurant operations including people, product and customer processes (Advanced)
    Knowledge of quality management processes (Intermediate)
    Knowledge of Business and financial acumen (Intermediate)
    Knowledge of food, health and safety legislation and regulations (Intermediate)
    Knowledge of work flow efficiencies (Intermediate)
    Knowledge of the QSR business model and product efficiencies (Preferred) (Advanced)
    Procedure writing skills (Advanced)
    Communication skills (Advanced)
    Microsoft Office Skills (Intermediate)
    Analytical and Investigatory skills (Intermediate)
