  • A Plant/General manager is required at a FMCG Food Manufacturing Company based in Durban.
    Experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to the role
    • Essential: Diploma/Degree with substantial manufacturing experience
    • Effective Communication skills both verbal and written
    • Strategic Planning skills
    • Financial and business management skills
    • Ability to deal with multiple, high-priority issues and excel under stressful conditions
    • Preferred: Master’s Degree
    • Experience in a food related industry
    • Experience working in a union environment
    ? Ensuring adherence to the quality and food safety commitments of the manufacturing operation
    ? Achieving or exceeding budgeted operations financial, productivity and schedule attainment goals
    ? Leading the organization in the ongoing process of Continuous Improvement
    ? Ensuring excellence in management of human resources/labor relations within a unionized environment
    ? Working across organizational boundaries and break down internal barriers to achieve the best possible results for the Company, along with demonstrating a vigilant commitment to ethics and our Company reputation
    ? Committing to provide on-going leadership for plant health and safety programs
    ? Responsibly representing the Company in local, industry, community and regulatory affairs with the Company’s policies and culture Plan, organise, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
    ? Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimising unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
    ? Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
    ? Allocate resources effectively and fully utilise assets to produce optimal results
    ? Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
    ? Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
    ? Collect and analyse data to find places of waste or overtime
    ? Develop systems and processes that track and optimise productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
