    Practitioner IR (Construction)
    Location: Northern Cape

    Our client in the Construction industry is looking for an IR Practitioner.


    Key responsibilities

    • Facilitating the local community and accommodating interface issues between local stakeholders
    • Labor disputes and grievances
    • Applying and maintaining effective procedures
    • Ensuring adequate communications between management and employees
    • Responsible for monitoring compliance with appropriate industrial legislation
    • Monitors industrial relations indicators e.g. number of disputes, grievances and recommends corrective action.
    • Ensures that correct procedures are followed at hearings
    • Undertakes projects associated with IR which could include recruitment, remuneration, collective agreement application, employee assistance and training.
    • Ensuring standard procedures are adhered to and any specific client requirements are taken into account.
    • Fostering relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
    • Work to be completed within required time frames
    • Inspiring team members to achieve high levels of production
    • Building good relations with employees and relevant role players
    • Co-operating well with peers and subordinates
    • Professional conduct always
    • Providing constructive support to company initiatives
    • Reviewing work and ensure corrective action when required
    • Implementing improvements and demonstrating initiative
    • Consistently complying with all company policies and procedures
    • Ensuring compliance to Safety, Health & Environmental Regulations
    • Manage, develop and monitor the progress of the Community Liaison Officer
    • Manage requests from all contractors/subcontractors to the CLO and provide feedback on shortlisted candidates or profiles back to contractors/subcontractors
    • Report to the project management on ED commitments on a monthly and quarterly basis
    • Resolve community grievances once escalated beyond the authority and capabilities of the ED Manager
    • Be the first point of contact for the contractor with the municipality


    Requirements

    • Relevant Degree or Diploma with at least 5 years Human Resources/IR experience, or qualified by extensive experience in excess of 10 years.
    • Must have Experience in Civil Infrastructure Construction
    • Working Knowledge of the Relevant IR/HR legislation and BCCEI Collective Agreements
    • Good knowledge of the OHS ACT, and Construction Regulations.
    • Must have Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office
    • Must be a South African Citizen
    • Must have a valid SA passport
    • Must have valid Driver’s License
    • Must be prepared to travel and relocate
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work as part of the team, while exercising own judgment
    • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
