  • Description

    The purpose of this role is to manage the activities in the Dragline
    and Road Construction section of the Opencast Mining Operation in a
    safe and responsible manner to ensure optimal production results and profitability.
    Minimum Qualification

    Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.

    Surface Blasting
    Certificate for Coal Mines.

    Driver’s license
    (Code EB /08).

    Mine Overseer’s Certificate
    or Mine Managers Certificate of Competency for Coal Mines will be advantageous.
    Minimum Experience

    3 Years ’Opencast Coal Mining experience in a supervisory capacity.

    Production Management knowledge and experience of a coal mining environment.
    Behavioural Competencies

    persists through difficulties to achieve outstanding results.

    Ability to continuously improve things,provide insights by identifying key issues
    and make intuitive judgement.

    Conforms and adheres to rules and procedures and minimizes risks by sticking to processes.
    The successful candidate must be in possession of a valid certificate of fitness or be fit enough to obtain one prior to commencement in this role as this is a requirement of the Mine Health & Safety Act.
    The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to the following:

    Knowledge and understanding of all coal mining production activities.

    Co-ordinating and ensuring Compliance of Health, Safety and Environmental Standards.

    Utilising effectively material and human resources.

    Ensuring that the mine’s procedures are enforced and adhered to.

    Meeting legal, safety and production targets.

    Leading and motivating a productive team.
