  • Project / Contracts Manager - Building (Subcontractor) – Johannesburg

    A fast-growing construction (subcontractor) company based in Johannesburg, is looking for a suitably qualified project / contracts manager to join the team. The Project Manager reports to the Operation Director and manages the activities and resources allocated to assigned projects into a cohesive and efficient manner

    Experienced: Minimum 5 years post qualification experience on major Commercial building and residential construction sites.

    Qualification: ND: Building / BSc / BTech Construction Management / Civil Engineering with a high degree of computer literacy. (CCS and MS Office) 5 years hands on experience.

    Skills required: You need to be confident and have good interpersonal skills. You need to be able to manage and motivate teams to get the project done to the right standards. You also need excellent reporting, programming, construction management knowledge.
    Key duties and responsibilities:
    · Follow company processes and procedures and ensure they are being followed on site.

    · Manage site teams on various projects simultaneously. (+/- 6no projects at a time.)

    · Assume overall responsibility for the project delivery.

    · Ensure project deliverable are met in terms of quality, time, and cost.

    · Able to interact and communicate effectively with the main contractor.

    · Understand what is required by the main contractor and then manage the team to deliver on their expectations.

    · To set a target for the project team and make sure that they are met.

    · Ability to produce construction programs.

    · Manage the contract. i.e. apply for EOT, Acceleration or Loss and Expense claims

    · Manage the collection of Contract Instruction from the main contract.

    · Attend and provide coordination for all start-up and weekly site meetings with the main contractor.

    · Produce Weekly / monthly progress reports for submission to the main contractor.

    · Produce weekly reports to management on performance of projects.

    · Work closely with quantity surveyors to ensure we are claiming our full entitlement.

    · Ensure we recover our full entitlement with regards to Site instructions.

    · Ensure we keep to our estimates to ensure the project meets its profit requirements.

    · Team player and able to work under pressure.

    · Real time problem solving.

    · Strong administrative skills.

    · Liaise with main contractor and suppliers regarding all job-related queries

    · Effectively report on projects at monthly management meetings.

    · Develop strong relationships with main contractors

    Requirements: Valid driver’s license, Own reliable transport, 5+ years’ experience in a similar role, English essential with Zulu and Afrikaans preferred

    Package: Basic salary: R20,000.00 to R30,000.00/month, Fuel allowance, Company laptop & Company cellphone, Car allowance or Company Bakkie
