  • Job Purpose

    Finance Technology (FT) is a delivery supplier to the Group Treasury and Capital Management (TCM) function within Standard Bank. The FT Analyst is responsible for gathering, aligning and managing the business requirements and performing the solution design in line with the Finance Architecture and Regulatory policies. This will mainly encompass the gathering of requirements on behalf of Asset and Liability Management producing the business/functional/user requirements, design specifications as well as the associated test cases required for user acceptance testing.


    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    Analyse and Document TCM Business Requirements and Processes
    Prepare business requirements documents, define business processes, compile functional specifications and finalise the solution design in conjunction with the development teams. Work closely with the business and technical teams to translate business requirements, FTP, Basel Liquidity and Interest Rate in the Banking Book rules into functional and technical rules.
    Explain and simplify complicated subjects/concepts with the help of tables / diagrams in order for a wide audience to understand the complexities.
    Identify manual processes that can be automated.
    Translate a long term strategic vision, client objectives and business requirements into system and process solutions.
    Validate information received by cross checking with financial systems and financial reports.
    Identify requirements not compatible with the current design and escalate to the correct level timeously for investigations.
    Identify processes not compliant with the Finance and Data Target Architectures and engage the appropriate business users in order finalise the correct requirements early in the process.
    Profile and analyse data from source systems to clarify/validate the integration of data and confirm the accuracy of planned usage. Engage with the technical data team in order to analyse and identify issues with source system data as required, to support defined requirements.
    Facilitate review of the documents with the various stakeholders and ensure timeous sign off of requirement documents in order for the project to not be delayed.
    Conduct extensive analysis in the SQL environment to trace and resolve data issues (CTB and RTB)
    Analyse the existing IT framework and ensure that the requirements will be completely covered by the existing design.
    Perform data extracts using the appropriate tools (i.e. SQL, Power Query), facilitate testing and sign off reviews.
    Solve business queries and production incidents as required via the appropriate support channels, as well as those raised by the operational business team during the monthly and daily production cycles.
    Facilitate review of the documents with the various stakeholders and ensure timeous sign off of requirement documents in order for the change not to be delayed.
    Conduct Application design
    Ensure that the business requirements documented are all catered for in the design documents. Engage with the technical team on requirements not catered for and involve the relevant stakeholders to close the gaps between the requirement and design documentation.
    Contribute to team efforts to evaluate design alternatives. Validate the design options to ensure compliance with relevant requirements, accounting principles and governance.
    Compile and Review functional system specifications that will correctly implement agreed upon designs
    Conduct Application testing and UAT (CTB)
    • Document test cases that will confirm the suitability of the data rules configuration, functional capability or report requirement. Ensure that all the business requirements are met.

    Communicate test cases with testing team and assist the test team when executing test cases
    Verify the quality of the solution and ensure test cases have been correctly executed after testing and r
    Continuously identify opportunities to automate processes / reports
    Continuously evaluate the applicable Liquidity, Interest Rate in the Banking Book and FTP treatment and the compliance to the relevant Basel standards.
    Engage with the relevant teams on requests for new reports and check all new reports for accuracy and data integrity.

    Preferred Qualification and Experience

    Qualifications:
    • BComm. Degree

    Experience:
    3-4 Years
    • Business analysis of the Treasury and Capital Management function with specialisation in Asset and Liability Management (ALM). Exposure to implementation of regulations beneficial.
    Understanding of Banking and Trading Book products, ideally with current analysis experience.     Experience unpacking financial or mathematical models to understand requirements, as a base for translation into digital data, reporting or other formats.
    Experience in using data tools, such as Microsoft SQL, Power Query. Willingness to learn new data management tools.
