Our client requires a Warehouse Chargehand to assist with the planning, execution of daily activities ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of their warehouse. In addition performs own function as storeman
Storeman to ensure that all spares are controlled , maintained and despatched on time - Control job cage and solving issues pertaining spares .In addition assist with the daily activities ensuring that all planned activities are executed according to time lines.
To perform own direct work and in addition:
Ensures work details, instruction steps are clearly communicated.
Provides guidance for personnel in performing their duties
Provides direct oversight and lead assigned personnel in achieving schedule, productivity, quality, training, and safety targets.
Responsible for ensuring quality of work performed under his control is to accepted standard.
Responsible for bringing queries, changes or issues to attention of supervision/ management.
Responsible for reporting personnel control at work performance and attendance matters to supervision and or management.
Responsible from time to time for the carrying out of toolbox talks, obtaining personnel signature and filing of completed toolbox talk documentation.
Provides supervisory staff with input on personnel evaluation.
Read appropriate warehouse documentation to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed or shipped.
Move items to appropriate areas.
Assist in conducting physical inventories and cycle counts
Assist with the maintain inventory records by posting materials received and disbursed, writing shortage lists and distributing them as required.
Responsible for operating the warehouse machinery in a safe manner and reporting any equipment maintenance or problems to immediate supervisor
Supervise staff in the daily performance of duties in absence of a supervisor or as assigned.
Assists in tasks involving effort,active performance of a variety of works instructions with staff.
To report to management for improvement to section’s performance
Training of personnel
Ensure a smooth and complete work flow in the warehouse.
Responsible for inventory accuracy.
Control Spare Parts
Ensure that parts are received , inspected , put away into correct bin allocations , preserved and pick list/pack list executed daily
Ensure that Job cage is maintained and parts available on time
Ensure that all items are packed , preserved and despatched on time
Process delivery documentation
Keep record of all delivery documentation
Control cold store
All cycle counts and stock takes
Control Bond store as per customs rules and regulations
Control customer equipment
Control of equipment for projects
Performing any other duties as reasonably required by Management.
To perform any other duty within vocational and potential vocational ability as instructed by the company and/or delegate of the company exercising full flexibility.
Carrying out all duties in accordance with QA procedures / departmental works instructions.
Safety, Sanitation, Security, Housekeeping
Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
Assist in maintaining the security of the company.
Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.
Comply with OHS standards.
Obey all speed limits.
Wear all safety equipment (PPE).
Report all deviations and defects to supervisor.
Dispose all waste correctly and on a continuous basis.
Adhere to all safety instructions regarding clear walkways and obstructions.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified in the related field, Stores and Inventory Management, Warehousing Management or Logistics. Grade 12 and / or technical qualification
Experience and or aptitude Controlling Stores / Warehouse duties within a heavy engineering environment; Min 5 Years’ experience; PC literate – Word and Excel; Valid 3 ton forklift licence; Packaging methods and equipment; Rebate and Bond store control ; Transportation - trucks and loading techniques ; Basic rigging and slinging ; Lifting equipment; Welding consumables; Cutting Inserts; Tools , General consumables , Hazardous and flammable goods , Import and export . Supervisory experience added advantage. Working experience in a technical manufacturing engineering environment.
LICENCES, CERTIFICATES: Valid driver’s license.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and writing, Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with crew and other members, Computer literate and operate a computer to company requirements. Knowledge of applicable safety regulations, Possess the initiative, drive, stamina and co-ordination to carry out the duties of the position, Ability to plan, organise, direct, instruct, Ability to prepare accurate works instructions to the point of instruction, Ability to liaise with other departmental sections
